But his friends decide to go South on their holidays and Spiky can't go with them as he needs hot temperatures. So poor Spiky leaves Monster Island in search of new friends. Not many fish want to be friends with him because they are scared of getting eaten.
This is a book for boys and girls who like danger, although this time the resolution is far from aggressive.
Once they get to school, children can get worried about making friends, holding onto them, feeling left out and finding new friends. It is probably their biggest anxiety in the playground. Having worked in this area and encouraged children to get over their fears it is a pleasure to continue supporting young school children with these colourfully illustrated books. Spiky represents the boys and girls who struggle finding friends and find a surprising answer to their problems.
