Most parents can trade war stories about their kid's bedtime. There are many benefits to discussing a routine with a child so that they are aware of the boundaries and expectations. Once a bedtime routine is established and stuck to, the routine may help the child to get the necessary rest. Familiarity with the routine helps the child to be calmer and happier during the routine and when they wake in the morning. Some parents have had to try drastic measures to ensure their child goes to bed. Some parents have had to sit in their child's doorway every night until the child falls asleep. Some parents have been suffering for years and their child has faced the consequences of tiredness or irritability from having a lack of enough sleep for their age.
