In one of the greatest books ever produced about Royal Air Force Bomber Command, Wing Commander Guy Gibson writes affectionately about his beloved aircrews. Born in 1918, Guy Gibson joined the RAF when he was 18. Only four years later, he was flying with Bomber Command. For his gallantry and inspiring leadership on the Dambusters raid, he was awardeded the VC, but insisted upon returning to an operational bomber squadron and was shot down whilst flying as Master Bomber in a Mosquito of the Pathfinder Force.
