‘ Let me introduce you to my line of work and you will soon discover that ‘Grey man’ has many skills, a person who is a multi-tasking individual who has to be that way to enable him or her to survive if they choose to last in the back stabbing, cheating and Machiavellian world of Close Protection. I will take you on my journey of a fresh faced young man who is struggling, finding his direction as he tries to establish his career as a Body Guard. The pitfalls, the lies, deceit, back stabbing, the tedium, the drama’s and finally the rewards of working in this line of work, the addiction that it can be. My first steps in the Close Protection world and through my short stories I will relate the different matrix’s which the Security world has. All the stories are actual incidences that have happen to me, people and company names have been changed or omitted to protect their identities, they are simple stories that shows the world which I had worked in, they are set in the city and rural areas of England, to the mountains of Austria, the grasslands of the Congo and to the Southern State of Texas, the Capital of Washington D.C. and sky scrapers of New York in the USA, they are set in the late 1980’s to 2000, a period of time when the mobile phone was a new gadget, there was no internet for everyone and certainly no Global Positioning Systems and the Close Protection world was a “Closed Shop” run by the old and bold ex-military men who controlled who could work or not work on the Circuit. It was not a matter of what you knew but who you knew that got you a job. Welcome to the world of the Journeymen working on the Circuit.’
