Marina Vanderpool is an unusual girl. Brought up traveling the world with her scientist father and doted on by a wealthy and glamorous benefactor, Marina’s life seems perfect.

Everything changes in the summer of her sixteenth year when she is sent to live with her Aunt Abby and Cousin Cruz in the seaside village of Aptos, California. Only a few weeks after arriving in town, Marina has nearly drowned twice, enchanted the hottest surfer on the beach, AND discovered a supernatural creature.
