Rigby Shlept Here: A Memoir of Terence Rigby

(Country Setting June 14, 2015)
On a postcard to Juliet Ace, Terence Rigby wrote: ‘Have you made much headway with the scandalizing version of my biography? Ever affection, Lord Marylebone X.’ Although he would not live to see it, Juliet Ace has written much more than a ‘scandalizing’ life of the wonderfully memorable and professionally esteemed actor that was Terence Rigby. Famed as one of the finest performers of Harold Pinter’s work, he was equally lauded for his creation of Albert the horse in Alan Bennett’s dramatization of Wind in the Willows, and for numerous classical performances from Ibsen to Racine. While the theatre was his natural habitat, his commanding presence, and stillness, is recorded in numerous films and television appearances – memorably as the burly spy Roy Bland in the television classic Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, and as ‘Big Al’ in Alan Plater’s The Beiderbecke Affair.
