Baba Yaga, a witch from Bedlam Forest, has an ambition to be, "The Queen of Evil." To achieve her aims she must enlist the help of the Keeper of Death, to assist her in abducting a magic forest, which will enable Yaga to be the most powerful entity in the kingdom, However, there are others who are prepared to stop the old crone from reaching her aspirations. The residents of the magic forest, the Saints and an entity known as the Guardian, all tribute towards Yaga's downfall. Two little owls, Hooter and James, are sent on an away mission to search for Muma Padurii, the mother of the forest, although it is said, she is only a legend from when time first began. The birds face a horrendous journey from start to finish. From battling with a ferocious sea and being trapped in a mountain of mirrors, before they are hypnotised by seven dancing maidens, who are not as innocent as they seem. Every step of the way, the birds are fleeing from the Draci, the main force of evil. They encounter the Sfinx, a group of talking rocks. They witness an attempt to annihilate the Keeper, whose identity is revealed after millions of years. The owl's adventures are fraught with danger from start to finish, with many twists and surprises along the way.
