What was it like growing up in the post war era that was 1950's England? As a boy myself during that time I have many memories as detailed in my book: Growing up in Wartime Southampton: Someone Else's Trousers. Expanding upon these I created a story, this time setting it in a fictitious Hampshire village. So come along and relive those bygone but wonderful days as Davie Collins leads the Sundance Gang through many seemingly great ideas that unfortunately always manage to go wrong. A sabotaged raft leads them in search of revenge against those responsible for this outrage, the same boys they fight with constantly at apple scrumping times. Vigilance is needed to keep their rivals at bay, and this all culminates in a tense raft race between the Sundance Gang and their bitter rivals from Brimly, the village on the other side of the river. My childhood may have been something like this but both myself and everyone I played with would have sold our own mothers for the life that the Sundance Gang enjoy. Children's books written for adults, this would be of interest to both teenagers today and those who were teenagers during this time for whom it is in effect a trip down memory lane.
