Meeting my CASA

Designed for children in foster care (ages 5-10), "Meeting my CASA" is part of an educational, dialogue-opening series for kids in out-of-home care. In this full-color 16-page book, Robbie Rabbit meets his court-appointed special advocate (CASA) for the first time. We learn how Robbie feels about having a CASA. Kelly, his CASA, explains (in kid-friendly terms) what a CASA is, what CASAs do, and how the work of a CASA differs from the work of other child welfare professionals. *** The back of the book includes a game designed to promote communication between the child and the important people in his life. *** The story and game were created by Adam Robe, MSW, a former foster child who was adopted at age nine and is now a child welfare professional. *** The Robbie RabbitTM series is designed specifically for child welfare professionals and foster/adoptive parents who want to: (1) Help a foster child and/or an adoption-eligible child adjust better to tough changes in life; (2) Promote communication between the child and the important people in his life; and (3) Gain insight into a child's feelings and interpretation of the world around him.
