Hesperus, and The Titan, are more elaborate and finished works. They contain scenes that descend deeper into the heart, and are of a far more exciting interest; yet, this seems to the translator the work most free from objection, most purely artistical, and the gentlest expression of the per sonal character of Jean Paul, which he has left.
