This volume was published in 1839 and was written by the Anti-Slavery Activist Theodore Dwight Weld.
The witnesses tell horrific stories of what they saw on their many visits to different plantations in Southern states. These gruesome reports on how slaves were treated helped build the case for the Abolitionist Movement.
