Children of Hephaestus: Freshman Year

language ( Sept. 27, 2017)
Fifteen years ago the strange celestial phenomenon known as Hephaestus had entered our solar system. Every person on the planet held a collective breath as it reached Earth, passed between it and its moon, then continued on its journey without so much as causing a high tide.

The scientists theorized. The politicians extemporized. The rest of the world just shrugged and got on with the business of life.

Jennifer Irons hadn't even been born when the strange, energy spouting object had bathed her parent's with its light. Her life, however, was about to be completely changed as a result of what happened on that unremembered day. The strange powers Hephaestus had granted her and others like her would begin to manifest. And she was soon to discover she was a playing piece on a chess board where faceless players were willing to use her, perhaps sacrifice her, in furtherance of their mysterious goals.

And if that wasn't bad enough, she had math homework due on Monday!
