Emily Clark is a freshman in high school that has low self-esteem and a disinterest in dating. However, Ashley Pare, her best friend and one of the most popular girls in school, is the complete opposite of Emily. After Ashley drags Emily to numerous double dates and set-ups, which Emily agrees to due to her people-pleasing nature, Emily finds herself in the middle of three different love interests. She faces the challenges of dating a boy online and goes through an atrocious first breakup. In an attempt to emotionally heal, she decides to date a jock that plays games with Emily’s heart. Emily’s other online friend, Eric, helps her through her high school career while she’s discovering herself and the meaning of true love. This novel follows Emily Clark’s growth through high school, in which she learns about friendship, finds true love, develops self-esteem, and learns to express her feelings. Emily discovers that sometimes you have to follow your heart, even if everyone else disagrees.
