My Friend Is Deaf

My Friend is Deaf is a short illustrated book introducing communication technologies and techniques used by the Deaf in America the 1990s. Introduced are communication using sign language, TTY for the telephone, television and video captions, alert lights for the doorbell, alarms and timers, hearing dogs for the Deaf and sign language interpreters.The illustrations and the story of two friends, one hearing and one Deaf, make the perfect introduction for children to learn about communicating with the Deaf. Color illustrations were created and colored by 8-year-old Jahla Brown.
