Eva Carmichael is a ship surgeons daughter, destined to become a house maid in an English country manor. Well that is what she thought!
At the age of 16 Eva is sent against her will on a journey to the other side of the world, sailing on the ill-fated Loch Ard. Eva is full of all sorts of apprehensions, will she find work when she arrives at the colony? Will she survive living in the harsh Australian Bush and who is the mysterious young highlander Tom?
But most importantly will Eva survive the Loch Ard?

A Historical Fiction set in 1878 this story chronicles the real life shipwreck of the Loch Ard off the Victorian Coastline of Australia. Learn through Eva's story about how new migrants traveled to the young colony of Melbourne, what life was like once they arrived and importantly the treacherous nature of travelling by sailing ship in the 1800's.
This book has 10 chapters, a Historical Note and list of Words From the Past.
