The Dream Psychology is considered not only one of the most important works of Sigmund Freud, also known as "the father of psychoanalysis", but also as the book that marked a turning point in the way of perceiving and interpreting the conscious and unconscious manifestations of human psychology. The method of research the author used consisted in examining facts in their every detail, until the meaning of these facts revealed itself. This allowed Freud to develop a set of theories that served as basis for the modern sciences of psychology and psychoanalysis. One of the most important discoveries he came to by studying his own conscious and unconscious behavior was that dreams are a way of fulfilling some deep, secret wishes. According to Freud, some dreams or parts of dreams are also related to the vision on life and world the person who experiences these psychological manifestations has.Another revolutionary theory developed by the author refers to the fact that dreams are somehow related to the events the subjects live while they are awake, and also to the sensations and feelings these events provoke to them. This way, Freud establishes the existence of a strong connection between the states of wake and sleep, being the first psychologist who affirms that dreams are not some nonsense manifestations of one's mind, and that each of them can be logically explained and interpreted, as long as the behavior of the dreamer is completely analyzed.Last but not least, the author admits that dreams are encrypted, symbolic visions, but he also demonstrates that the symbols are universal and they can be easily deciphered by those who have a fine observation spirit.
