This novel project took the 5th grade students seven months to complete. The project was to write a 25,000 word novel about a girl and a boy who must go from their classroom to the office. Each room along the way is a chapter that begins as the girl and boy characters enter a room and will then end about 1,500 words later as they exit the room. The novel group's goal was to create a plot that smoothly transitioned from one room to the next. These students did an outstanding job on the novel project by extending and challenging their writing skills, learning to coexist with one another when times got rough, and learning what perseverance really is. These students are novelists before the 6th grade and they are all extremely proud of themselves. Please excuse their errors and let yourself be entertained by their efforts and dedication to their novel.Now, begin your journey through a school where surprises are around every corner and getting out seems impossible at times.
