Sam is coming to terms with the changes in his life and enjoying the new friends that he makes at home and at school. He now has two homes – one with mum and a separate one with dad – and his adventures continue as much as they did before. From the author of Fresh Start this second book follows Sam’s adventures in his new life. The three stories are longer than the six chapters in Fresh Start to encourage children to extend their skills and enjoyment of reading.

Especially enjoyed by boys and their dads New Friends continues the positive message that changes in life can be exciting.

“Dog Detectives” tells the story of how Sam and Katie stay at mum’s new flat and take Muttley for a walk along the canal. They make new friends of Jo and his mum, who live on a narrow boat. Muttley makes friends with Jo’s dog and then the two of them disappear…

In “New Friends”, Sam has more change to adapt to when he discovers dad has a girlfriend. At first he is horrified but after a walk up the Malvern Hills with Sally and her dog, Dusty, he realizes things aren’t so bad after all.

“Not Fair” is set in Spring Lane School, where Sam is happily looking forward to Sports Day. His disabled friend Asha shows her bravery and is justly rewarded but another classmate makes a big mistake and causes problems. A dilemma that Sam and his friends have to make a decision about.
