Elsie has grown to be a graceful, accomplished, and beautiful young woman of 15 who faces the difficulties of peer pressure, the allurements of the world outside her family, and the delights and confusion of friendships both false and true. We find Elsie s need for a loving, stable family fulfilled when her widowed father marries a godly woman, Rose Allison, whom she has loved since early childhood. Elsie s life is further enriched with the birth of a brother and a sister whom she can love and cherish, as well. However, while visiting her Aunt Wealthy, her newly-found family joy is soon interrupted by a despicable scheme perpetrated by her Uncle Arthur. Concerned for her stability and happiness, her father decides to take the family to Europe. While overseas, Elsie meets a special friend who plays an important part in helping restore Elsie s joy once again.
Elsie s Girlhood is the third book in the original, unabridged nineteenth century Martha Finley classic, the Elsie Dinsmore Series. These books are best when read in order.
