As the wife of British diplomat Hugh Fraser, she followed her husband to his postings in Peking, Rome, Santiago, and Tokyo before his sudden death in 1894. Under her married name of Mrs. Hugh Fraser, she was also the author of "Palladia" (1896), "A Diplomatist's Wife in Japan" (1898). "The Heart of the Geisha" (1904), and "Italian Yesterdays" (1913).
