Not Another Statistic
language
( March 31, 2012)
I didn’t decide to drink and drive,
To kill an innocent person,
I thought about the value of a life,
I’m not another statistic.
I didn’t decide that life’s no good,
That I should end my life,
My family to deal with what I did,
I’m not another statistic.
I didn’t decide to keep my mouth shut,
What happened to me was wrong,
I hope from jail he’ll look and see,
I’m not another statistic.
I didn’t decide to wear that mask,
I let it fall off my face,
I set my creativity to another task,
I’m not another statistic.
I didn’t decide to let the pain go too far,
To let it eat away at my life,
I healed my heart and its scar,
I’m not another statistic.
I decided I’m better than this life,
That people think it should be,
I’m standing up for my right,
I’m not another statistic.
