Hanover's Wishing Star is a non-fiction story (illustrated with photos) of Karen Ann MacGuire, a twelve year old from Valhalla, N. Y. who wants a horse very badly. When she learns that the racehorse Nashua and his stablemates are to be auctioned off, she writes to the bank in charge explaining that if there is any horse that no one else wants to buy, she would like to bid her savings of $24.03 on it! When Karen Ann's letter is received by the Hanover Bank, it so impresses their public relations man that he takes over her cause personally and ensures that she will get a horse.
