The Gorgon's Head

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform Nov. 26, 2015)
This is a classic Greek tale retold by a master story teller for children. The retelling is filled with subtle humor, but some of the language contains words that most young children will not know. Two things follow: This is an opportunity for parents and children to interact with parents defining the difficult words. Alternatively, this is not a book for very young children. But, the story should be known because it has become a part of world culture. The story is about Perseus, who with his mother were placed in a basket and sent off in the river by evil people who wanted them dead. The two land on in an area where every inhabitant is bad except for the fisherman who found them and raised Perseus. When Perseus grew, the king wanted him dead and wanted to mistreat his mother. The king persuaded Perseus to undertake a mission of bringing back to him the head of the monster Medusa, one of three Gogons who wore snakes instead of hair. The problem was that anyone who looked at a Gorgon would be turned to stone. Perseus undertook the mission, but had no idea how he could accomplish it.
