Iris relishes the freedom she thought she would never have, yet is burdened with a longing for more. When a neighbor is wounded in a barn fire, Iris's healing skills are needed. Will she be able to save the man from the awful injuries? What are the consequences if she fails?

Will Anna become a meaningful part of the Underground Railroad or will her inability to conceal untruths be her downfall? Can Ruby overcome her slave upbringing and learn to decide what is best for her or will be fledging music career come to an end prematurely?
