The Boston Kitty

language (Quiet Stream Books Jan. 9, 2015)
“I see you,” Miriam said out loud. “What do you want?”
The eyes blinked a couple of times and then went out. She heard a
heavy body push through the bushes and brush.
“If you aren’t a friend, don’t come back!” she shouted.

1806, NEAR THE MOUTH OF THE COLUMBIA RIVER…
…born to a white trader and an Indian mother, ten-year-old Miriam,
and her twin brother Moses, are comfortable in both cultures. When
they have a brush with a wild kitty, Miriam wants to make it a pet, but
Moses would rather get even with it for scratching him. A strange visitor
complicates the problem when he wants to have the cat so it can
be offered as a sacrifice. Miriam and Moses must find the wisdom and
courage to do the right thing.
