Bazaar Nights and Camel Bites

(Lume Books April 8, 2020)
'"I wonder if those are the Rifs or the Atlas mountains over there?" I asked nobody in particular. The adults were still busy talking about films and business deals. Maya and Francois were lost in their own language, which now seemed to involve much prodding and tweaking of each other’s noses, ears, etc followed by much giggling. I couldn’t see the joke myself….’

When Lily grows up she is going to be a painter and live in Paris. But in the meantime she has to put up with her chaotic and exasperating family.

New friend Maya comes to the rescue with an invitation to Tangier with her glamorous parents. Lily is over the moon – such sophistication. But trouble starts on the plane when they meet Francois – a real live French boy, and gorgeous to boot. Despite Lily’s superior grasp of his language Francois seems to prefer Maya – and Lily doesn’t want to be the gooseberry on holiday. Maya, who had no interest in boys before, has come over all silly. And does Francois have other plans?

Sacre bleu, as Lilly would say. Back home best friend Bea and neighbour Billy are now an item – will Lily ever find the right boy?

The third and final instalment of Sophie Parkin’s Life and Loves of Lily series leaves the reader in no doubt that with her charm and humour she will get all she desires.

Also in this series: French for Kissing and Mad, Rich and Famous
