Here come s another fast-paced, Robert Holland novel for boys, and as always, it’s filled with twists and turns and plenty of action and suspense.
It begins with a rush as the starting quarterback sustains a concussion at the start of the second half of the first football game of the season and the main character, Red Rossiter, a sophomore is sent out to take over the team.
And there is trouble at home too, as someone is trying to sabotage the family pecan farm. The question, of course, is why? Then, as events unfold, an old legend about the Black Witches of Umber begins to come into play.
Even geology figures in this complicated plot. In fact, the only thing left out seems to be the kitchen sink!
