She is seeing a speech clinician and is making rapid progress in her speech.On the bus on her first day of school, she meets Jamie, a grade nine student at her school. He takes Lisa under his wing. They form a strong friendship that grows into something stronger as the year progresses.Lisa is a very talented artist as well as an exceptional student. The book takes us through her first year in junior high, where she experiences many new things. She makes friends, has some interesting adventures, and witnesses the reconciliation of her parents. In the end, Lisa gets the recognition and respect she deserves.
