Sample passage:
Not long afterwards, learning that there was a chance to take the enemy by surprise, the great general again crossed the river with his troops. It was Christmas night; a terrible storm was raging; it was bitter cold, and the water was filled with cakes of floating ice. Each moment of the passage was filled with danger, but Washington succeeded in landing every one of his men safely. Then, marching rapidly upon the enemy at Trenton, he surprised and overcame them as he had planned.
