Emily’s Conflict: A Young Adult Werewolf Romance

(Northern Starlight Young Adult Press July 17, 2016)
Jared finally gets clear direction on the next step of his quest, and he’s ready to do whatever it takes to find the serum and give Emily the normal life she deserves. The only problem—Emily wants a life with Jared, and she doesn’t need it to be normal for her to want it! Why does Jared insist on following the quest that guarantees they can’t be together? Why is he so intent on thinking of himself and any werewolf as a monster? Why can’t she get the images of that girl, Ruby, out of her head long enough to think straight about him? And why, for the love of God, can’t things get just a little less complicated for even one night?

EMILY’S CONFLICT is the ninth chapter of the exciting new series EMILY AND THE WOLF from Northern Starlight Young Adult Press and continues the story of Emily and Jared that began in the collection of stories JARED’S QUEST and with the stories EMILY’S TORMENT, EMILY’S PATIENT, and EMILY’S BOYFRIEND. It’s volume four of book two, EMILY’S BATTLES. Can an average teen girl help a young werewolf gain control of the demon within him? And if he can’t keep his animal under control, how can either of them be safe? And why are there so many strange things happening that make Emily think plenty of people would rather he never got a handle on his condition? Northern Starlight Young Adult Press presents the finest in young adult fiction.

Jared got to the top of the street and saw Emily moving towards a black car.
“Emily,” Shouted Jared.
He made his way quickly towards her.
“Jared,” She whispered.
She looked into his eyes and her stomach turned over. She felt sick and her heart started thumping. She had the heartbreak emotions seeping through her veins, it was anger topped with hurt, topped with visions of Ruby.
“Where are you going?” said Jared.
Finlay was now standing beside the car, looking at Jared and Emily.
“I’m going out with my friend Finlay,” She said.
“I just wanted to …. I want to explain ….,”
“You really don’t need to bother,” She said.
They stood staring at each other in complete silence.
“Do you want me to come back in ten minutes?” asked Fin.
“That would be good,” said Emily.
Fin got in the car and it rolled away from the hotel.
“I just...Ruby is not…” Jared mumbled.
“The truth is Jared, you are completely unable to speak to me and you can’t even—”
Her words disappeared because Jared had grabbed her face in his hands and was kissing her hard. She wanted to pull away but could not. Instead, she kissed him back. Her body felt alive and she wanted more and more. She put her hands around his back and held him tight. He held her face firmly and was desperate for her. Their lips were connected, connecting the emotion that had been longing to reveal itself. Eventually he pulled back a little, kissing first her top lip and then the bottom. He kissed her forehead.
“That’s what I was trying to say,” he said.
