After creating her first book in 1935, she developed a taste, and quickly demonstrated a talent, for writing.Through- out her life, she won many awards, including the 1939 Newbery Medal for Thimble Summer and a 1958 Newbery Honor for Gone-Away Lake. Among her other beloved children's titles are her books about the Melendy family. Translated into many languages throughout the world, Elizabeth Enright's stories are for both the young and the young at heart. Recently, I read The Four-Story Mistake out loud to a group of 5 to 8 year olds at summer camp, over the period of 4 days. I couldn't believe how attentive and interested they were in the story. They *loved* the mystery of Clarinda's room, and they enjoyed Rush trapped in his treehouse in the storm. On the last day, at the end of the reading hour, we had two chapters left to go. I asked them, "Do you want to stop here, or should I finish the book?" They all chorused, "FINISH THE BOOK!" And so we did. And several of them afterward wanted to know whether we would read it, or the sequel, next year! Please choose Priority / Expedited shipping for faster delivery.
