Twelve-year old David Nicholson sits down at the Woolworth's lunch counter and orders his usual: Woolworth's famous strawberry shortcake. The day proves to be anything but usual, though, when four African-American men come in and sit down at the luch counter beside him. The year is 1960, and in David's hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina, African-Americans are not allowed to eat at the same restaurants as white people. As more African-Americans join the peaceful protest known as a "sit-in" over the following days, David finds himself in the middle of a major event in civil rights history....
