In 1902 English author E. Nesbitt published a series of stories in the Strand Magazine under the title of “The Psammead”. The stories feature the adventures of five children Cyril, Anthea, Robert, Jane, and their baby brother (known as the Lamb) and a Psammead (or a sand-fairy) who has the ability to grant wishes.
The magazine stories were expanded into the novel Five Children and It. The children appear again in The Phoenix and the Carpet (published in 1904) and then again in The Story of the Amulet (published in 1906).
All three novels have been brought together in this collection for your enjoyment.
