language (Great West Books April 15, 2015)
This trail guide from Yosemite to the Mt. Whitney region avoids the overused John Muir/Pacific Crest Trail. Included are 20 side trips of varying lengths. There are maps covering the entire route, photographs, and a bibliography. Excellent historical background on Theodore Solomons, who, in the 1890s, pioneered the route of what became the John Muir Trail. He was the first white person to enter Evolution Valley and to go down through the Enchanted Gorge, which he named. The book includes Tips for the Trail, info on what to take, and all the good advice that you didn't know you needed.
