Island Spider

(Independently published Feb. 18, 2020)
Harry was hairy, very hairy. He was a young spider growing up on a tropical island. He used to hide from his mother whenever it was time to go to school even though he admitted to her that he liked going because all his friends were there. One day he was hiding from her in a banana tree. Harry was about to climb down to go to school when the bunch of bananas that he was hiding in are cut from the tree. It was caught by some men below and the bananas and Harry were put into a sack and then driven away in a lorry. So started a journey by sea to a cold and grey land far away. Harry ended up being a long way from home. When the ship docks, Harry and the bananas are taken by lorry to a scary fruit sorting and production factory. From there he is taken to a supermarket where the bananas are bought and taken home. The spiders in the house he finds himself in are very different to the ones he knows on his island. Will Harry ever be able to get home? This is a story that is meant to be read by a parent to a younger child or with a younger child and to be read by children themselves as they get older.
