Another title for this story could well have been, "The Girl Who Once Was a Bear", but that version wouldn’t necessarily tell how Blanche, a young brown bear with a curiously contrary name, bravely attempts to rescue a clan of Dragonwing Fairies from certain extinction by transforming into a young human. It might not tell how a pair of benevolent beavers, a greedy groundhog, a small maternal owl, an evil and malicious cousin, a kind man, three terrible trolls and a clan of 500 fairies make Blanche’s journey from a young brown bear to an amazing girl a whirlwind of adventure with death defying acts of bravery to save the life lights glowing in each fairy wing. Full of transformations and magical amber pearls, "Wings of Light" follows Blanche on her winding road from a Baltic woods to a Vermont forest in a quest to save her tiny friends from a wicked beast.
