A novel exploring the centrality of family to identity,
Quench My Thirst utilizes first-person narration to tell the story of Travis Bishop's search for love and belonging. Raised by his aunt and uncle, Travis has never met his biological parents - a circumstance that haunts his adult relationships. After many failed romances and lost friendships, Travis must start anew, creating a family of his own.
As a young, attractive gay man in Atlanta, Georgia, Travis has no difficulty finding a date. He does, however, have a hard time committing to someone. Travis enjoys the ''dating game'' until the police inform him that Paul (one of Travis's old boyfriends) has killed himself and has left a letter implicating Travis as the motive. Disillusioned and scared, Travis distances himself from relationships altogether. But the story doesn't end there.
