Big Bully! Big Baby!: A story of enemies and friends

eBook
In the harsh landscape of Cluggston, the industrial town in Northern England where Jack lives things look very bleak but things are about to change both for Jack himself and for the town in general. The Arkwrights have moved to town and things are going to get distinctly rocky. This is a journey from hate to friendship between two boys Jack Braithwaite and Kevin Arkwright. It takes two northern lads to change a town from a sad grey place to a bright, exciting world full of possibilities. This modern adventure blends day to day reality with dreams and fantasy when two boys wonder- what if? The gritty northern town comes to life through vivid descriptions and the use of Northern words and expressions. You will enjoy meeting all the town's folk and learning about their stories. The book follows the people of Cluggston through a year in the life of their town through spring, summer, autumn and winter. You will see the boy's school days and holidays, Halloween and Christmas. The book contains modern eco and nature themes as well as showing how a community can come together. The book also includes different kinds of modern British families. Zee Hickey, the author lived for many years in the north of England in a row of terraced brick cottages as described in the book, this book is based on Zee's own experiences from that time. In England Zee worked as an artist for schools and also ran a children's gardening club which won a silver gilt award from the Chelsea Flower Show for their kitchen garden. Zee's eco messages in the book come from these experiences. Zee now lives with family in a ranch home in the foothills of the Rockies. Zee continues to write stories. Zee also paints the natural landscape, plants and animals of the area...but Zee still misses the pitter patter of British rain.
