The inspiration for the book was the author's great appreciation and love for her parents. Their endless encouragement, teaching self-entertainment, and being there heart, mind, body and spirit without complaint was unending. Money or the lack of it was never discussed. They were forgiving of mistakes, and were assuring of their love. Their arguments were private. Looking for the light after the darkness and a sense of humor was crystal clear! Life was not perfect, nor was it easy. However, the perfect times that were afforded by them are still alive and thrilling in the mind and heart of the author.
The author wishes to lend her happiness to others, or even inspire future generations to bring forth this same joy to children infinitely!
Beth Lancaster Cambron, the illustrator, is the second cousin of Sugar. Beth is a teacher at West Marion Elementary in Loretto, Kentucky. Her hobby is art. She plans to further her education in the field of art. Beth was asked by Sugar to bring the imagery of the narrative to life through acrylic paintings. She was asked to do this because of her enthusiasm for art, children and children's literature. By doing this project, Beth represents the Lancaster side of the family.
