Unfortunately, the slightest problems shake her self-esteem. Her new family and her boyfriend Eric have their work cut out for them, making her understand that they love her no matter what.
Eric has decided that he wants to become a doctor. When Cassandra’s Uncle Lir offers to take him under his wing at the hospital and show him what it means to be a doctor, he jumps at the chance. Eric hopes that he will be able to care for Cassandra, but she has medical problems that he can’t understand. He spends time on the Internet and searching through Lir’s medical books to figure out how he can help her. Her problems don’t make sense. Why does she constantly crave salt?
When Cassandra continues to have health problems, she doubts that she is worthy of Eric’s love and she wants him to find someone else, believing that any other woman would be better than her. She is willing to go to great lengths to prove to Eric that he can find someone better.
Other problems arise when there is a school dance and Cassandra’s parents volunteer to be chaperons. When two boys open up the floor of the gymnasium and a girl falls into the pool, Undine can’t help herself. She jumps into the water to attack the girl directly before Cassandra’s eyes. The Sons of Thor and Adaro have to stop her quickly before the secret of their ancestry is revealed.
