Slipped into its cover is a coded missive that directs Cady to use the book to save Koden, her twin brother. But that might be impossible. Cady’s family has long suffered from a curse that says one of every set of twins will fall at the hand of the other. She is the biggest threat to Koden’s life!
Determined to at least try and sort out the meaning of her mother's missive, Cady takes the empty book back with her to Plong Academy. Soon, she discovers the book's secret. Its pages fill with tales of a powerful elemental known as the Aduro Ghoul. Cady doesn’t understand how this elemental is supposed to help protect her brother. To find out, she brings her powers to bear. But, of course, no good deed goes unpunished.
Thanks to her interference, the Aduro Ghoul flares up around Plong Academy. He sets the school on fire, threatens the lives of pupils and teachers alike, and reveals that Cady's family curse is more potent than even she could have dreamed. Can Cady work out how to save Koden from the person who killed their parents before it’s too late? Or will she be consumed by the fire for daring to try?
