Awakening

Through unsteady peace and a general pact of non interference the three realms of the dwarves, humans and elves lived in relative harmony through trade of knowledge and goods.Over ten years ago dissonance trembled through the magic of the earth in the form of an explosion behind the barrier to the elven forest of Grilorin. The smoke column and tremors it produced lasted for days in the adjacent kingdom of Erisin. Though the humans attempted to contact their elven neighbors no one could find a trace of them after the destruction of their largest city behind the shield. Since then without evidence to the contrary humans assumed some catastrophe had befallen the third of their pact and so the world continued to turn without them. In the human realm of Brecirin ruled by a patriarchal society where most highborn women were treated as little more than a way to keep the bloodlines strong Emmaline D’Terin hated the idea of marriage just to be shut away from the world and her freedom. All her life Emmaline had dreamed of adventure. She grew on her parent’s stories of gallant knights on long quests in search of gold or to vanquish a foul beast. Though when adventure finally came for her on her seventeenth birthday all she wanted to do was go back home. While being held captive by one of the lost elves of Grilorin she began to have dreams filled with memories from a life which was not hers. Deep within her a power began to awaken which would rock the foundation of how she perceived her world but perhaps not for the better.
