Waverley; or, 'Tis Sixty Years Since is a historical novel by Sir Walter Scott. Published anonymously in 1814 as Scott's first venture into prose fiction, it is often regarded as one of the first historical novels in the Western tradition.
Sir Walter Scott was a Scottish historical novelist, poet, playwright, and historian. Many of his works remain classics of both English-language literature and of Scottish literature.
