Election 2020: Pete Buttigieg: Why Pete Buttigieg Will Win the Democratic Presidential Primary

Who is Pete Buttigieg? It is impossible to read an article about him without reading that question. Similarly, it is impossible to get through the first paragraph without wondering how to pronounce his name - boot-edge-edge? BOO-da-judge? Bu-ta-zhuzh? He prefers people call him Mayor Pete, and that style of friendly, next-door attitude is the image he projects in every media appearance. Other facts that make the first paragraph of every article: he speaks eight languages, he’s gay, and he’s an Afghanistan vet who went to Harvard and Oxford. Buttigieg, at 37, is the “millennial candidate,” a wunderkind, and absolutely the current flavor of the day when it comes to Democratic primary candidates for the 2020 election. However, politically, he was nearly unknown outside of his hometown of South Bend, Indiana, before he announced his presidential bid officially on April 14th. He is currently finishing his second term as Mayor of South Bend, and his book Shortest Way Home: One Mayor's Challenge and a Model for America's Future, which came out in March, features him rolling up his sleeves in front of a small-town Main Street storefront.
