An excerpt from this Odell Beckham Jr. biography:

The world of American football is full of great personalities that each have their own special way of showing how unique they are on and off the pitch. After all, in such a competitive environment as the NFL, players need to have something of their own to make themselves stand out—regardless of whether or not we are talking about something positive.

Of course, what also makes a really good athlete a superstar is not only how he plays on the field and how he affects the way his team plays, but also how he carries himself as one of the more popular personalities, not only in the NFL but in the entire world of sports. The best NFL players usually play with the kind of competitive flair and edge that allows them to stay relevant in the league. There are also those whose personalities tend to stand out either in a positive or a negative way even when not playing the game. This is where Odell Beckham Jr. comes in.

Back in college, Odell Beckham Jr. was already one of the most prominent names in American football even though he had yet to play in the big leagues. The young man was already putting up good numbers in his freshman year with the LSU Tigers. During his junior year, he eventually went on to win one of the highest honors any collegiate player can ever hope to achieve, the Paul Hornung Award. As a wide receiver, you could hardly find a collegiate player as good as Odell Beckham Jr. was during his days with the LSU Tigers.

But, then again, Odell Beckham Jr. was not one of the more highly-touted players coming into the NFL when he was drafted third overall by the New York Giants during the 2014 Draft. He did not come in with the kind of flair and national attention that some of the other players had coming into 2014, as there were incoming NFL rookies considered to have more talent and upside than the 2013 Paul Hornung Award winner. And the worst part was, Beckham Jr. had to miss his first four weeks in the NFL because of a hamstring injury.
