Casey at the Bat Casey at the Bat is a new work for narrator and symphony orchestra in the tradition of Peter and the Wolf. This very high quality recording featuring the London Philharmonic Orchestra, with original music composed and conducted by Stephen Simon, is part of Stephen & Bonnie Simons new Stories in Music that introduces children to symphonic music. Combining education with entertainment, each CD includes tracks about the composer and the author, what to listen for with musical examples by the conductor, a version of a major theme in a different musical genre (on this CD the Casey March performed by the Michigan State Band), plus a Suzuki play-along track. The accompanying Magic Maestro Program Book provides background information on the music, the poet, and the history of the poem, as well as activities. These CDs expand childrens musical horizons, develop critical listening skills, and provide a wonderful opportunity for adult and child to share musical and learning experiences together. Appropriate for all ages (and highly informative for adults as well!).
