Frida Kahlo (July 6, 1907 – July 13, 1954) was a Mexican painter that was well known for her self-portraits. She specialized in incorporating her dreams, Mexican culture, and Mexican tradition into her paintings. After surviving a car accident, Frida remained isolated during her recovery, which in turn helped her focus on her paintings. Frida’s paintings gain more recognition after her death because during her lifetime, she was more famous for being the wife of fellow painter, Diego Rivera. She is notably known for painting, Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird.
