During the summer of 1937, June Redfern dramatically transforms herself from a disgraced schoolgirl into a national celebrity. After achieving success in a series of beauty contests, doors suddenly open up into the lucrative world of fashion modelling. Within this sophisticated jungle, young June meets and falls madly in love with the suave David Furie, a notorious gambler and owner of a failing advertising agency.
