The Story of Maggie and Early

The Story of Maggie and Early is a true story of two dogs that belonged to my family in Tennessee and capitalizes on Maggie who unfortunately passed in December of 2019. Maggie had the most piercing stare in her eyes as though to say, "Yes I hear you but I am going to do this my way" . The story not only reminds us of the joy that pets can bring to us as adults but also emphasizes the important role that they have in the lives of children. Readers will enjoy the hilarious antics of the dogs but also will reflect on how pets really can at times seem to possess human understanding. After Maggie passed my 5-year old grandson asked his mother if she knew of anyone who was going to die soon. My daughter could not understand why he would ask such a thing and questioned him. He said that if she did know of someone, then he would like to write Maggie a letter and send it with them for her. His younger sister, 3 at the time told her mother that she had prayed for God to bring Maggie back from the "died land". Oh the love of a child! If pets can have this kind of influence on them, imagine the kind of opportunity that we as parents and grandparents have to teach them about kindness, selfless love and forgiveness.
