The Naughty Angel

language ( Jan. 11, 2014)
On a snowy evening at the end of November he was standing at the door —
John Angel who for young Mary and her family was going to fill the days until Christmas with extraordinary events: with cheerful tumult, lots of laughter, with friendship and deep shared experience, with hectic activity, quiet meditation and a joyful anticipation of Christmas never known before.
John Angel manages to distract Mary’s mother from her grief, and finally even elicits a smile from Mrs. Boss, strict school mistress.
A new classmate sits down on the empty seat next to Mary, and her life can soon no longer be imagined without the friendly, gifted boy. Wherever does he come from?
They spend many hours learning their parts, rehearsing and building sets for the nativity play, and in the end both actors and readers are delighted with the performance. The story with its short chapters is best suited for reading aloud during Advent. The time from November 30 till December 24 will pass like a flash.
